  • LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEM ENGINEER

    GCI Technologies Corp., a leading global designer and distributor of Professional Audio products, is currently seeking a Loudspeaker System Engineer to join our engineering team. Successful candidate will be goal oriented, results driven professional with relevant work experience and a passion for success.
     
    Experience/Education:
    • Candidate for this position must have 5-10 years experience in the engineering development of mass market loudspeaker/amplifier products, with a minimum of 3+ years proven hands-on design experience in developing loudspeaker/ amplifier products for the professional market.
    • Must have demonstrated experience developing products from concept through mass production.
    • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
     
    Responsibilities/Technical Experience:
    • Design and specify the professional loudspeaker systems including: transducers, amplification, signal processing, crossover networks, components, and enclosures.
    • Specify and evaluate loudspeaker transducer components
    • Specify and design analog circuits and digital filters for loudspeaker processing
    • Design and evaluate passive loudspeaker crossover networks.
    • Perform the listening comparisons of loudspeakers and amplifiers.
    • Design and perform tests for power handling reliability.
    • Interpret results and implement design changes to achieve performance goals.
    • Perform measurements of: loudspeaker components and systems; analog and digital signal processing; power amplifiers, and limiter/protection circuits.
    • Review and interpret schematics and PCB layouts.
    • Develop DSP presets for industry recognized DSP loudspeaker processors.
    • Test and adjust analog limiter circuits, and DSP limiter parameters, in order to achieve product performance and reliability requirements.
    • Design and evaluate acoustical performance of loudspeaker enclosures.
    • Guide mechanical engineers and designers on issues related to acoustical standing waves, reflections, and resonances.
    • Evaluate enclosure samples and implement design changes to correct acoustical issues. Experience in the design of horns and waveguides is desirable.
    • Must possess hands-on design experience with self-powered loudspeakers including: troubleshooting and interpreting schematics for high-power switch mode power supplies and amplifiers; optimizing amplifier and transducer impedance match for best thermal and power output; and evaluating/specifying both analog-circuit and DSP based limiters/protection.
    • User Knowledge of oscilloscopes, meters, data loggers, and other engineering equipment in daily work.
    • Occasionally rework and change component value changes on prototype PCB’s including SMT and through-hole designs.
    • Experience in the design of plywood speaker enclosures, die cast and injection molded components
    • Job responsibilities require lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds weight
    • Visual acuity and manual dexterity to inspect and hand-solder fine-pitch surface mount PCB assemblies is required.

    Director of Engineering

    GCI Technologies Corp. global designer of Professional Sound Industry equipment is looking for an experienced Director of Engineering. In this key position, we are looking for a strategic thinker responsible for technical direction of product development efforts for both hardware and software across all product lines. The position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.  
     
    Experience, Qualifications and Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineer required, Masters preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science a plus
    • 10+ years relevant experience leading hardware, firmware and software development
    • Experience with analog and digital audio design
    • Outstanding managerial skills
    • Creative problem-solving, risk assessment and negotiations skills
    • Strong oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills
    • Time management, decision making ,presentation and organization skills required
    • Experience dealing with Asian contract manufacturers

    Responsibilities:
    • Provide decisive and effective leadership of all product technical design and development
    • Collaborate with Product Managers, Marketing, Sales, Service and Operations to create high performance products to meet market demands.
    • Oversee all phases of design, i.e.: Technical requirements, mechanical design, SCH/PCB design, Software development and testing, prototype debugging and testing
    • Oversee QC testing procedures for Asian vendors to minimize defectives
    • Implement design to manufacture methodology
    • Set and oversee planning and execution of all projects to meet deadlines and communicate any revisions to meet changes to appropriate departments
    • Drive development and engineering teams to consistently improve cycle time and time to market. Accountable for completion of projects to meet market windows of opportunity
    • Minimize schedule and technical risk by foreseeing and addressing obstacles proactively and aggressively
    • Prioritize and manage all projects and work with product managers and engineers to achieve goals and objectives
    • Manage international and domestic engineering and software team
    • 25% travel required

  • Engineer
     
    GCI Technologies global designer of Professional Sound Industry equipment and the home of Gemini, Cortex and iKEY-Audio is looking for an Engineer with 3-5 years experience to join the Team. The position will report directly to the Lead Engineer.
     
    Position Description/Qualifications:
    • Degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Experience with working with AUTOCAD software
    • Experience creating mechanical designs of electronic devices based on the PCB
    • Experience with working with Protel Design system or similar applications to design analog and digital devices
    • Experience in PCB layout of one-layer, 2-layers and multi-layer PCBs
    • Knowledge of the testing firmware/software process of electronic devices
    • Ability to program C/C++ for firmware design
    • Assembler language programming desirable
    • Experience with design of multimedia systems preferred
    • Strong communication skills

    Responsibilities:
    • Travel within your region to train our sales force, dealers and customers on new products
    • Evaluation of new products including software and ability to identify and report findings
    • Attend trade shows as needed to demonstrate product
